In the beginning of the forgetting, just when the devil thought he had won, he turned the table inside man. He blocked the inner guidance from coming through, so the soul could no longer hear its own whisper. He taught the mind to call the unreal real, until illusion felt safer than truth. He bound the heart with lust and greed, kept desire hungry so it would never look up, and planted a sadist mentality, a cold joy in the fall of others.

Esoterically, this is the first veil. The devil is not a horned outsider. He is the fragmented mind that has separated itself from the Source and now believes separation is power.

Then, through the smallest crack, a sparkle of light peeped in. God entered. He did not come with thunder. He came with recognition.

He looked at the devil and said, you think you have won, but my leela starts now. You are a part of me, so I know every action of yours before you conceive it. But you do not know what comes next. That is the difference between the part and the Whole.

And He pronounced the hidden law: you shall never be happy even if victory is your motive, and that is your curse. Since you are not happy, you will not let others be happy too. Misery must recruit.

This is the second veil, more terrible than the first. Out of fear and insecurity, the soul turned completely toward darkness and, borrowing its power, attacked God Himself. In that moment the little light vanished, not defeated but withdrawn, for light does not struggle where it is mistaken for an enemy.

The human remained, cluttered, confused, trapped, lost, conditioned. He mistook the noise for life. One day he woke feeling powerful. He believed he had mastered darkness, that darkness loved him. Esoterically, this is the ego believing it has tamed the shadow by serving it.

Then darkness left him, as it always does when the lamp has poured all its oil. His powers vanished. He grew old, rugged, numb. He lay in his little bed, a king of ashes. The light reappeared once more at the threshold and said, I tried helping you, you turned me into an enemy. I am leaving you now.

And God smiled again with the sorrow of absolute justice: you chose money over love, over the living essence, so love shall leave you. You will loiter in darkness trying to find solace, and you will never find it there.

My conclusion is this. The curse is not punishment, it is mirror. The devil cannot be happy because happiness belongs only to the Whole, and he has chosen the part. Man cannot find solace in darkness because solace was never hidden in darkness, only his attention was.

Esoterically, forever does not mean endless time. It means until. Until the soul exhausts every illusion and remembers that the light it attacked was its own face. The leela that God spoke of is not His victory over the devil. It is His patient allowing of the soul to go so far into night that night itself becomes the teacher, and the turning back, when it finally comes, is not out of fear but out of remembrance.
