The Two Currents of Tantrik Astrology- Naga and Garuda
Tantrik astrology views the Janma Kundali not as a timeline, but as a yantra of bandhanas—places where prana is either bound or freed.
It revolves around two complementary forces:
1. Naga (Binding & Preservation)
Essence: Water, earth, memory, ancestors, and hidden treasure. Naga is not a curse, but a vow made before memory a protection mechanism that eventually became a prison
.
In the Kundali:
Rahu & Ketu: The severed serpent (desire without a body, memory without a head).
5th House: Ancestral debts awaiting recognition (purva punya).
8th House: The damp, unopened vault of hidden samskaras.
The Moon: Mind-waters (e.g., afflicted Moon, Ashlesha, Mula, Ardra) leading to feeling circled or trapped.
2. Garuda (Release & Upliftment)
Essence: Fire, air, solar prana, and viveka (discriminating sight). Garuda changes the element, viewing the binding from above rather than fighting it on the ground.
In the Kundali: Garuda represents the upward movement of prana that neutralizes venom (visha) and dissolves the afflictions of Rahu, Ketu, and Kaala Sarpa Dosha.
The Esoteric Synthesis
“From the ground, you see a circle of snakes. From Garuda’s height, you see a mandala.”
Do Not Cut the Knot: Attempting to force freedom through total detachment leads to friction.
The Process: First, honor the binder (Naga) by acknowledging lineage, stabilizing the Moon, and feeding the inner 8th house. Once the guardian is calm, invoke the bird (Garuda) to allow prana to rise.
The Core Insight: Rather than asking when a dosha will end, ask: What inner treasure was so precious that my lineage sealed it with serpents, and am I steady enough to carry it in the open air?
