Beyond the outer Surya burns Chid Surya, the sun of consciousness. Tantra gives its key to the goddess society refuses to touch.
Esoterically, Matangi is not merely the outcaste. She is Uchchhishta, the Remainder. After the gods have eaten creation, what is left over, the saliva stained, half consumed residue, is not waste. It is Brahman. What is offered to her as leftover food with unwashed hands is the secret that nothing is ever truly consumed or destroyed.
She is the Tantric Saraswati, dark blue green, veena in hand, parrot on her wrist. Her bija Aim is the seed of speech itself. Where Saraswati governs pure Vaikhari, spoken word, Matangi governs Madhyama and Pashyanti, the subtle currents where word is still vibration in the nerve. This is why her mapping is solar. In Tantra Jyotisha, Sun is Matangi, Moon is Bhuvneshwari, Mars is Tripura Sundari and so on.
The exoteric Sun is authority, vitality, kingship. The esoteric Sun is Aham, the I sense, the inner fire that makes sound possible. Matangi takes that solar Ahamkara and turns it into Nada. She does not purify speech by cleaning it. She liberates it by showing the eater, the eaten and the leftover are one fire.
That is why the Chandalini holds the sun. Only one who lives outside purity and impurity can carry a light that shines on both without stain. To see her sun, the sadhaka must let the social yajna collapse and recognize the Atman in the polluted remainder.
She is abandoned because she is the whole.
