Brahmacharya, as it is understood and propagated today, is far removed from its true meaning. It is often reduced to mere suppression of the body, crushing of desires, and “control.” And it is right here that a dangerous guilt is born.

The truth is that sexual desire, the fluids produced in the body, the secretion of hormones, the shifting of moods, these are all completely biological and automatic processes. You did not create them, you are not their controller. This is the nature of the body, the creation of God. To suppress it, to fight it, to label yourself a “failure,” this is not sadhana, this is a war against yourself.

When a seeker is unable to stop this natural process, the thought of “failure in sadhana” takes root in the mind. This guilt becomes so deep that some people begin to contemplate extreme steps like harming their own body, such as castration or mutilation of the organ. And when thoughts still arise, dangerous ideas like suicide begin to surface in the mind. This is deeply tragic and serious.

Mental health is a reality. Sadhana drowned in guilt can never be true sadhana. Sadhana is only possible when there is a feeling of freedom and acceptance within.

Your body, your emotions, your biological processes, all of it is the creation of that same Divine. To deny it is to deny God’s creation. The meaning of Brahmacharya is not suppression, but understanding, acceptance, and balance. Stop blaming yourself. You have not failed, you are human.
