5th House (Purva Punya, progeny continuity), Sun (Pitru karaka), and Rahu/Ketu (karmic knots).
Here are the classical combinations:
1. Sun + Rahu in 9th, 5th, 1st or 10th — The most quoted. Sun = father/soul, Rahu = unfulfilled ancestral desire. If Sun is eclipsed in 9th, shows dissatisfaction from paternal line.
2. Sun + Saturn affliction — Sun afflicted by Saturn, especially in 9th. Sun = father, Saturn = old karma, delay.
3. Rahu / Ketu in 9th house — Rahu binds family to unsettled ancestral energy. Ketu in 4th also quoted as disconnect from ancestors.
4. 9th Lord in 6th / 8th / 12th + afflicted by malefics — 9th lord weak, combust, debilitated, or with Rahu/Ketu/Mars/Saturn. Lagna and Moon both should be checked — 9th from Lagna AND 9th from Moon.
5. Sun, Moon, Rahu or Ketu afflicted by Mars or Saturn in 9th.
6. Saturn + Moon or Rahu + Sun combination anywhere, aspecting 9th/5th — creates blockage.

Parashara gives these as Shaapa of father:
• Sun in 5th with Rahu + malefics, 5th lord debilitated
• 9th lord in 5th, 5th lord in 9th, both afflicted by malefics + Sun in Lagna
• Sun + Rahu + Saturn in 5th, 5th lord weak
• 10th lord + Sun + Rahu in 5th
• Karaka for father (Sun) + 5th lord + Lagna lord all in 6/8/12
• If 5th house is afflicted — disturbed lineage, issues with children, repeating family pattern losses.

1. Tarpana on every Amavasya — Rig Veda 10.15 is recited facing south.
2. Gaya Shraddha / Trayambakeshwar Narayana Bali — if combination is strong
3. Peepal tree seva + feeding crows and Brahmins — Saturn + Sun pacification
4. Donate on behalf of ancestors — til, jaggery, silver, cow donation
5. Fix 9th house dharma — respecting father, guru, doing your dharma properly.
