In Vedic Astrology, Mars is exalted in Capricorn and debilitated in Cancer.

Most blogs stop there and say “weak Mars = low confidence.”

Tantrik astrology says something completely different.

Neech does not mean weak. It means reversed.

The Tatva Problem

Mars is Agni Tattva – fire, action, blood, war. The Commander-in-Chief of the planets.

Cancer is Jala Tattva – water, mind, home, mother. Ruled by Moon.

What happens when you throw fire into water?

You don’t get fire. You get smoke.

The energy doesn’t disappear. It turns inward. That’s why classical texts describe debilitated Mars as fiery energy turning into emotional sensitivity.

Tantrik Astrology frames it like this:
Mangal is Kalagni Rudra / Bhairava.

Chandra is Shakti / Mind.

It’s not lack of courage. It’s misdirected courage.

2. Anger is stored, not expressed. This placement is often described as being plagued by severe self-doubt and frustration that the person cannot address effectively. It’s passive aggression, not open aggression.

3. The protector becomes exhausted. Mangal in Cancer wants to protect everyone. That’s why it gets burnt out first.
Interestingly, for Manglik Dosha, Mars in Cancer is considered to have minimum strength. The dosha becomes emotional, not violent.

For years, Tantra has been reduced to two things in pop culture – dark rituals and secret sex rites.

Both are distortions. That is less than 1% of Tantra, and the part our own shastras condemn as kshudra-prayoga (misuse).

So what is Tantra actually?

Pitr are stuck in Dhoom Yoni – smoke form. They need a Devi who can Tarna – cross them over. That’s why Tantra says Pitr Paksha is not only Pitr’s time, it is Mahavidya Sadhana time.

There are 3 main Devis worshipped in Tantra during Pitr Paksha:

1. Maa Dhumavati – The Main Devi of Pitr Paksha

Dhumavati is the only Mahavidya who is herself in Pitr / widow state. Her color is smoke (Dhoom). Pitrs live in Dhoom Loka. She understands their loneliness.

In Tantra, she is called Pitr-Vahini. Yama cannot refuse her.

Her bija is Dhoom. Dhoom is what is left after fire – same as Pitr.

What to do: Simple dhyan, not ugra sadhana. Offer black sesame, dhoop, and pray – “May my Pitrs get gati.”

Benefit:
• Cuts Pitr Dosh, Pitr Shrap from kundli – especially if Sun + Rahu, Sun + Shani, or 5th house afflicted
• Removes continuous block in career, marriage, childbirth that comes after one generation
• Protection from unknown fear, loan, court cases – which Dhumavati rules

This is the No.1 Devi as per Tantra for Pitr Paksha.

2. Maa Tara – Tarini Devi

Why her?

Tara means – she who carries across. Pitrs need someone to tar them from Preta Yoni to Pitr Loka to Deva Loka.

If your family has many unnatural deaths, young deaths, or ancestors who died with unfulfilled desires, Tara is worshipped.

She is Neel Saraswati – she is the higher form of Budh. She gives Vak to Pitrs so they can bless you.

Benefit:

• Gives Sadgati to atripta Pitrs
• Removes fear of death, dreams of ancestors crying/asking
• Opens Budhaditya and Saraswati Yog in your family again

3. Maa Kali / Kalaratri – For Pitr Mukti
In many Shakta Parampara, Dakshin Kali / Shmashan Kali is worshipped on Mahalaya Amavasya.

Because Shmashan is where body ends and Pitr journey starts. Kali stands there as mother.

Benefit:
• Deepest pitr dosh where total family is stuck – no progress for 2 generations
• Protection from Shmashan dosh, Preta Badha

What should you do practically? (Sattvik Tantra way)

You don’t need ugra prayog. Tantra during Pitr Paksha is very sattvik:

1. Morning Pitr Tarpan, Evening Devi worship. 2. On Amavasya: Light a diya with mustard oil facing South, offer water with black til and pray Ma Dhumavati
3. Feed a woman who is alone / widow – Dhumavati’s direct form. This is biggest punya in Tantra during Pitr Paksha.
4. Avoid non-veg, alcohol, false speech during these 15 days – it increases Dhoom in you.

What is Murthi Nirnaya?

Murthi means – Form of Manifestation.

There are 4 forms:

1. Swarna Murthi (Gold) – Tremendously Favourable
2. Rajat Murthi (Silver) – Favourable
